Website Design & Development

From idea to launch

Where do you start?

If you’ve never had a website for your business before, choosing the right type of website can feel a little overwhelming. That’s why I’ve tried to keep things as simple and jargon-free as possible by clearly explaining the different options available and who they’re best suited for.

And if you’re still unsure, don’t worry – you’re always welcome to get in touch by email or phone for a friendly, no-pressure chat.

The steps of creating a website

Do you like to tinker, or prefer to give technology a wide birth?

Some clients love being able to update their own website by adding blog posts, photos and new pages themselves. If that sounds like you, then a WordPress website is probably the best option.

Other businesses only need occasional updates, such as changing prices, adding testimonials or updating photos. In those cases, a custom-built website can work really well. Because it doesn’t rely on a content management system like WordPress, I can code the site from scratch, often resulting in faster loading times and strong SEO performance.

Take a look at the two website options below to help decide which one is the best fit for your business.

WordPress Websites

WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that powers millions of websites worldwide. It allows people with little or no coding knowledge to easily add, edit and manage content through a user-friendly dashboard.

With a WordPress website, we start with a professionally designed theme that provides the foundation and structure of the site. I then customise it to suit your business and brand using your own colours, images and content, creating a website that feels unique to you. Once the website is complete, you can either take control of updates yourself or leave everything to me — whichever works best for you.

One of the biggest advantages of WordPress is the huge range of plugins available to add extra functionality to your website. Whether you need image galleries, contact forms, booking systems, online payments, calendars or something more bespoke, there’s usually a plugin that can do the job. This makes WordPress a flexible option for businesses that may want to expand or add new features over time.

Custom Designed and Built Websites

Custom-built websites are hand-coded by me from scratch, and this type of website is ideal for businesses that want a completely bespoke online presence without relying on templates or unnecessary plugins.

Unlike content management systems such as WordPress, custom-built websites aren’t designed for clients to update themselves unless they have coding knowledge (or fancy learning a bit of HTML!). Instead, you simply send any changes over to me whenever updates are needed. Because of this, custom websites are usually best suited to businesses where the content doesn’t change regularly and only occasional updates are required throughout the year.
